Hey Pat I have been looking for a better vector software. How do you like vector magic? Do you run the desktop edition or do use the online service? _________________ mdx-40 don rotary table with combo fixture

I will probably go with the full stand alone desktop edition, seems to be the way to go. http://reprap.org/bin/view/Main/WebHome Have you read into this website. Seems like a silly question, but you seem to be the one having all the fun. I am giving it a shot. _________________ mdx-40 don rotary table with combo fixture

the site came up as reprap a home made 3d printer are you going to make one? it says you can make one from the original and give it to a friend if you do that let me know I can be the friend you can give it to thing about using printers for jewelry most of them do not have a fine enough resolution to make really smooth models and at the cost of the good ones you'd better be doing some heavy production work 30-50 models at a time in order to pay it off (just my thoughts) why spend the $$$ to grow one model every now and then...but no I'm not having all the fun I think most guys just don't post what their doing too much anymore...I think the newness has worn out as there are alot of guys that have been doing this cad/cam thing for 4-5 years (or more) by now so maybe the 'excitement' is gone?...or everyone is working hard on their mills for customers jobs, they gave up trying because they can't seem to get their mills perfectly aligned, or their trying to find some 'milling' work (customers!) _________________ roland mdx-40, mdx 15

I was reading a post by a guy who grows shitty parts like the ones you had hangerman do for you. He would just mill the part after he grows it. If you leave a small amount of finish stock and grow your part to fit the mdx-40 jigs, in theory, you could crisp up your detail that you lost in the growing process. Reprap can print in various materials, abs seems to be the material of choice. So I am hoping to grow some parts with the hollow under galleries and just mill off the top. What do you think? _________________ mdx-40 don rotary table with combo fixture

sounds possible but you better have everything lined up right when you go to the milling part... also somethings can't be milled or might not look the same after you mill the grown part...might take quite a bit of your time to work things out, but a cheap growing machine might be nice for work other then jewelry maybe for smaller companies that need some grown parts you could offer that service if you have time to market it _________________ roland mdx-40, mdx 15

I figure what the heck, might as well try it. I come from a family of machinists. I think I could build this reprap for less than the 500 they claim. Maybe I will post some picks as I get rolling. Hey you getting some snow up there. I am in Fairview Heights, right outside of St. Louis and the roads here still suck. _________________ mdx-40 don rotary table with combo fixture
